Photo 1/2
The photograph shows the ruins of the Roman temple of Maharraqa (seen from the eastern side) dedicated to the deities Isis and Serapis, in its original position, with some Nubians sitting on the blocks. The temple was moved following the construction of the Aswan Dam and the resulting formation of Lake Nasser, which would submerge it. It is now located at the new Wadi es-Sebua, where it was rebuilt in 1966-68. The author's signature is at the bottom right.
