Photo 1/1
The photograph shows a view of the landscape and rocks emerging from the Nile at the First Cataract, near Aswan. In the background, the Temple Complex of Isis on the island of Philae can be seen. Today, the First Cataract has been submerged by Lake Nasser, created as a result of the construction of the Aswan Dam in the 1960s, and the Temple Complex was moved to a neighbouring island because it was threatened by the same lake. The author's signature is visible at the bottom left.
